Hi,All.
We have come to the time of year to take out our annual insurance again on our caravan and decided to check around for costing with the Big three, Being RACV, Vic. APAI, Australian Pensioners Insurance. and CIL insurance ,.
Just wanting to know if any one has had a claim or problems with any of the above, or which you would suggest . Thank you in advance.
Regards and safe travel in this wonderful country of ours.

Have you had a yarn to TCIS brokers in SA.
They look after 4WD club insurance policies and offer a policy / broking service for 4WD owners.
They cover mods and camping gear.
Be interesting to hear your experience with them compared to the companies above.
Good hunting....

Hi " H "

I'm no expert, and have no connection, but I reckon u may find one of the best deals around if you join the CMCA. They have their own broker and do hundreds of caravans and wagons 4x4 etc of all types, only condition is it must have a bed.

Quotes are only available to members. First ime up, AU$60.50, i.e. AU$16.50 joining fee + AU$44.00 annual subscription.

If you accept the quote u will need fill in the form and send in
six pics of wagon/van. Usually get limited $5000 contents deal
with the package.

Drop them an email, just like Ex-Oz folk, terrific mob. U will
be very pleasantly surprised.

.. cheers

Hi Convict, I thought you could only be a member if you owned a camper Van or Mobile Home being motorised and self contained ??
They don't mention caravans on the web page.

Cheers

Hi Barry 2

..tell truth I had not looked at web site again carefully except to check current 'membership' price.

U may well be right. I have a 4x4 with a bed in it and got a good deal
IMHO.

Drop them a line, they are a good mob.

..cheers.

Hi Convict.

Ken Tame & Associates (through CMCA) insured my caravan but I also have an ex hire Kea ""Conqueror" V8 Troopy campervan which I bought and insured before I bought the caravan. They asked for photos, web address etc about the caravan and there was no issue with insuring it for me. Give them a try on 03 9853 5555.

Thank you all,for your comments they are all appreciated but the fine print and what they cover varies from Company to Company so it is now with a bit of reading to decide which one to choose.
Thanks again, regards " H " Vic.

They had no problem insuring my 2011 Navara STX 550 with a new 5th wheeler. I took an additional $6k contents insurance total cover over $150k Insurance cost just $1400pa for the lot (Car, van & $11k contents).
Most people I have spoken to about CMCA have been quoted (by Ken Tame) as low as half the cost of other insurers and I have had others tell me how great they are if tragedy happens and you have to put in a claim.
Cheers Nigel

Don't really have a good experience of Ken Tame - his prices seem to be competitive for those meeting the CMCA criteria - ie motorhomes and 5th wheelers, but way above others for caravans.

Not that i could even get a quote without joining CMCA - seems to be preferentail treatment which is OK if thats what you have but certainly not for all.

Does make you wonder if some form of conclusion with the 'exclusive' CMCA is normal practice?

Gooday,
Think you will find Allianz is now major shareholder in Ken Tame, however we joined early this year and had our caravan covered about half of others. They will insure caravans as long as you become a Member and agree to Insure your Tow Vehicle AS WELL when it comes due. Not a problem for us as we have already had our tow vehicle with Allianz for several years. Regrettably had one small claim a few years ago and they were very good to deal with. Think it is worth the trouble to join and supply photos etc. Only thing is unless you get a NEW Valuation they will only insure for the same value as you had with your last insurer, you cannot increase the value you wish to cover for without new valuation.
Cheers,
Boroma 604.
