We have just completed the Oodnadatta then to Alice and finished crossing the Plenty hwy to Boulia from Alice last night. All roads are in excellent condition, we crossed with a navara towing an ultimate camper, infact tthe roads were that good in areas you could comfortable sit on 90+ kmh, be sure to slow for on coming traffic though! we did on every occasion and still got a cracked screen from a 4x4 with no manners, they stayed at 90+ while passing and sprayed us with rocks.

The Plenty is a mixed bag of gravel, bull dust and clay, great camping with facilities are at Jervios, lovely people!

Today we head for Birdsville for our Simpson crossing on Sunday

We are looking to the same trip but in reverse in early September how long did it take you to do the Oodnadatta to Boulia section. We will not looking at doing the section quickly but just getting an idea of the time to complete. There will be two vehicle one with an Ultimate and the other with a Tvan.

Hi Jim,

It depends on how long you want to take, we did the Oodnadatta in 3 days and then went to Alice for 2 nights then took 2 days to cross the Plenty to Boulia. The best place to stay on the Plenty is Jervious,, from Boulia to there is 468kms with no fuel in between!
