Hi all, we are going to the
Flinders Ranges from the NSW Central Coast in August. We will be going out to
Parkes then across to Willandra NP for a couple of nights and were wondering if you can get into Mungo through Mossgiel on the Cobb Hwy then across to Hartshorns then down through Gol Gol ? and what is the road condition? Instead of travelling down to
Hay and across to
Mildura and into Mungo !
We are travelling in a Pajero, with lifted aftermarket shocks & springs and towing an Off Road C/Trailer
All replies gratefully received & Thanks in advance

Which road were you thinking of taking exactly?
From Hartshorns there is a bit of track going west but it goes to nothing crossing Lake Garnpung( Auslig maps). Do you know someone who has taken this track?
The local Post Office/ pub is usually a good first call..
Normal access roads are open:

Tony you can take the
Clare Mossgiel rd then turn left on to the Ivanhoe
Balranald rd and head down to Hatfield half way between Hatfield &
Balranald you will find
Box creek rd that will take you to
Lake Mungo

Hi Tony!
Have travelled that road a lot in recent years. I presume you mean past Manfred as Hartshorn is north of the road. I used to tow a loaded 8x5 trailer. Road could be corrugated at times, but no problems if you travel tothe conditions. Last time i was on it was March last year. It was after heavy rains and had a few gutters across it. Should be right noe as have been no heavy rain for awhile now. You should have no trouble with your set up.
Regards Wayne
