G/day All,
Last update was at
Normanton, and since then we have travelled the
Savannah Way via
Burketown,
Doomadgee, Hells
Gate,
Borroloola,
Roper Bar,
Mataranka, and
Katherine.
The road conditions along the section from
Normanton to
Burketown were good in general with the section from Leighhardt River X/ing to
Burketown now sealed.
Burketown to
Doomadgee is also now good sealed road with only a short section just out of
Burketown still gravel.
Doomadgee to Hells
Gate is mainly good graded gravel with only minor corrigations. Hells
Gate to the NT/ Qld border is quite rough with many areas of severe corregations. Border X/ing to
Borroloola was a mix of good and bad with the good, being real good and the bad, real bad.About 50/50 I'd say.
Borroloola to
Roper Bar through the Limmin Nat Park is all fairly rough and corregated, with areas of bulldust and rocky outcrops. Creek crossings and dips in gullies are sometimes rough and sharp and all should be approached with caution. There were no water crossings more than 400mm deep and none that would require a
snorkel .
Will post fuel prices later as it's getting dark and I can't see.
Cheers, Trev K.
