Hi guys,

had a blowout in Karijini yesterday and I need to get two x new 285/65R17 for the 100 series.
Any recommendations??
The blowout was a Dunlop, on the rear. I hear Dunlops aren't that flash so I was going to replace both rear tyres.
We have 2 x brand new Bridgestone Duellers on the front.
Are Toyo any good??

Thanks
Clint

Hi Clint, Toyo make some good tyres as do many others, but would you not be better off with the same tyre, Bridgestone Duellers all-round.

I agree. If the front ones are new,why not match them up and help to keep the transmission all symetrical. Much easier when it comes to rotating them as well. Bob.

I agree, with both the above stick bridgestone all the way round it will save on transmission lock up when 4x4 driving.

I would agree with snailbait re $$$$ , BFG ,coopers ,mickeys , goodyear , etc I think duellers are to soft in the side wall for rough dirt roads , but are very popular...

cheers

Go to Tom Price and a pair of Bridgestone 694LT. you'll see plenty of them on the vehicles that live in the Pilbara. There's a reason for that.

Don't drive past Tom Price to Paraburdoo, very little available there

Hey Tim, hopefully I can source two of those today in Tom Price.
Are they the same size as what I am currently running?

694LT is the model of the tyre

You should obviously match the size of your current tyres and the dealer will source what you need. There is overnight freight from Perth if you need and odd size

Years ago I posted a long and dismal story on tyres in the Pilbara. Never again will I travel there with anything but quality strong tyres that are less than 50% worn.

Bridgestone 694LT's are commonly used on mine site trucks, and I was told they were the best for the region my the tyre shop in Paraburdoo who could not supply 31x10.5x15's for me. None in town!

So I moved to 16" rims when I got home. Bad memories of one blowout, four punctures and replacing tyre plugs each 10km as we limped into nanutarra RH. had tyres freight up overnight to the RH. had to fit them myself onto wide alloy rims .... Don't want to talk about

Go to Tom Price!!!

Any update Clint?

Could they help you in Tom Price, or did you go to Karratha?
