I am interested in hearing from anyone that has riden a motorcycle down the American Highway in South America or to Alaska.
Better if you have done it on a BMW R100 / 1150 / 1200GS.
Plan to do it in the future and seeking your expereince on problems, preparation, language,
places you found most interesting, contacts made there and general tips.
My email: carlsp1000@gmail.com thanks

Gday
There was a show on foxtel about a group of riders from England that did that very trip. I think it would come up on google or u tube and you can contact them from there.

Hi Muzbry,
Thanks for that.
Yes I have seen the show several times. Also everything on You tube remotely relates to riding a bike to South America and Alaska. Also several movies of driving cars / SUV's over the same route.
Thought there might be someone that has actually done it.
Several years ago I did Russia and then read many
blogs of people that had done it. Found almost every blog almost useless as a help to what actually happens.
I though the chances would be slim but hoping for the best.

Try looking on the overland forums and websites, scanning through the posts can lead to links to personal
blogs on various trips, I'm sure I've seen several about your proposed area somewhere recently.
Know what you mean about most being very superficial, but occasionally find a personal one that has lots of relevant info.

G'day,
There are a couple of Kiwis doing this at the moment (Deadhorse, Alaska to Ushuaia, Chile) and blogging as they go. They're on Suzis, not Beemers.
Their website is:
TwoMotoKiwis
Hope that's of some use, and good luck if you go ahead!
Cheers,
Chris

Thanks everyone for your information.
I am going to follow Happy Franks idea and make contact with this couple. They are heading to New
York on their trip and as I live there, it will give us a chance to get together.
I can then look at their bike and a very detailed debrief. They are heading to Alaska at the moment and this is the final stage of where I want to go.
Fantastic help from the
forum.
