im considering buying a nissan patrol 2.8 diesel, and one of the advertisements i have seen says 2.8 diesel, but doesnt mention a turbo. is there a N/A version of the 2.8? if so is it seriously underpowered? i have done a search and found no reviews or anything on it.

The only non turbos that I recall are the 4.2 and the 3.3 in the MQ. A 2.8 non turbo wouldn't be feasible for a vehicle the size of a patrol.

Greg,
GU models are as follows:
GU Series 1:
2.8 L Turbodiesel intercooler (electronically controlled) seriously underpowered. ST trim only
4.5 L Petrol ST trim and TI Trim.
4.2 L Diesel Naturally aspirated DX trim only
4.2 L Turbodiesel (non electronic) ST trim only manual only
GU Series 2:
3.0L Turbodiesel Intercooler (electronically controlled) replaced the 2.8L
4.2L naturally aspirated diesel deleted and available with turbo in DX trim
All other models remained the same with minor changes to colours, trim etc.
GU Series 3:
4.8L Petrol in TI and ST trims.
All other models remain the same
Utes or cab chassis:
They all have the 4.2 L Turbodiesel engine, DX ST and leaf or coil, early ones had a naturally aspirated diesel now they are all turbodiesels.
