We stayed at Nelia Gaari recently and we were thrilled with it! A beautiful
bush camp location located on the banks of the
Darling River. Amenities were basic but functional and the gas hot showers were delightful after a week on the road. It's strictly a BYO power affair but if you are self sufficient, no problems. There are a number of campsites located along the river bank and some camps by the billabong - we were lucky enough to be the only one's on the property the night we stayed. The kids had a great time and some success with the yabby net and even managed to catch some fish! Birdlife was prolific and we enjoyed a walk around the station taking in the wildlife. There are plenty of fire pits, picnic tables, gas BBQs etc. The hosts, Greg and Lily, were friendly, informative and made us very welcome. Would have loved to stay a few nights longer but we (like many) were just 'stopping by' on the way to somewhere else. Rates are cheap at $8 per night for each adult and $5 for the kids.
If you're after a
campsite that offers a fantastic location without the crowds then Nelia Gaari is
well worth a look.
