Just wondering if anyone had heard if any progress has been made with respect to rebuilding after last years unfortunate fire.

We're heading that way in October, having planned this holiday for some time the Eulo general Store was very high on my list of "to do's".

Was there a couple of weeks ago, seems that it will probably not be rebuilt. Camps Australia listed Eulo with fuel but the guy in the pub explained the store had burnt down. Camps also said Eulo had mobile coverage, the town does not but about 50km to the west at a T junction has?

If my sources are correct it may be up and running very soon.

I think the Building Approval has been done and possibly the 1st inspection.

The new store is being built in Chinchilla and being trucked out there to be installed.

When I can get my source to answer his phone I will update this thread as to when the expected reopening is planned for :)

Cheers Kev

From the horses mouth, it will be open within the next 2 weeks.

The shop and new residence is in place, and the new disabled access ramp is being installed today.

They have to be up and fully running by the 15th of August 2012 due to a Variety Bash group being booked in for fuel and food etc.

The Final Building inspection has been booked in as of 2 hours ago for Friday next week :)

So much for the Doomsayers stating that it wasn't going to open ;)

That's good news Kev. I hope to be able to check it out personally in about 4 weeks time.
Cheers,

Gee that will be quick, we went through Eulo on July 4 and behind the orange plastic fencing the foundations had been poured, it did also look like the pumps were functional but I can't say that for sure.

Pre fabricated buildings don't take that long to get up and running once onsite ;)

Yeah I guess not, won't have the same ambience as the original though. Did not stay behind the pub this time as we had another nearby destination.

Thanks for the info guys.

That's great news for us given we're hoping to pass through Eulo early October. But more importantly great news for the Eulo community who I imagine have done it tough this past year.

Yes, no doubt the new structure won't have the same ambience but I suppose it will make its own history in that regard. As long as they sell hat badges (which I collect, hence the email address) I'll be a happy camper.

I hope everyone driving through Eulo will stop and support the shop and fuel station the ensure their existance.
Its easy to think I will do everything in Cunnamulla and rush past but lets all support the business in Eulo too.
