Hi all

Is anyone in the know about the length of time it takes 4WD aftermarket specialists to develop products for new models of 4WD's. We have had new VW Amarok, BT50, Ranger, Colorado and Dmax in the last 6-12 months.

I'm about to purchase one of these with the plan to do some serious touring by the end of the year but at this stage there is very little on the market available from companies like ARB and TJM.

Does anyone in the industry know how long it takes to develop bullbars, snorkels, canopies etc ? I know it varies depending on how popular a car is, but just chasing a general idea at this stage.

Kind regards and happy travels to all.

It is hard to judge but I found with my new 4x4 it wasn't until the warranty ran out on the first production models that aftermarket parts became readily available. That meant 3 years before cheaper filters, injectors etc.

Might be the same for your models you are looking at.

Cheers

There is a full range of accessories from ARB for the BT50, Ranger and Amarok... the Colorado and Dmax will not be far away.

Accessories start appearing within 6-12 months of a new model release.....

I have the new model BT50 with ARB bar, winch, dual batt system, OME suspension, airbags, 150 litre Long ranger tank.
Only thing I am still waiting for is the Safari Snorkel.

A call to the companies of your choice would hopefully get you a straight answer.

There are just too many models to choose from now, no doubt there is a delay especially the less popular models.

Ok, thanks to all. We have narrowed the field down to the new Dmax after taking it for a test drive.

I contacted ARB head office. They advise that they have already purchased a Dmax a few weeks ago, and that they have started developing accessories. However, they couldn't obviously give a specific time frame.

6-12 months seems to be the common theme for other vehicles from forum users. I guess that gives me a chance to do a bit more overtime to pay for it all. lol

kind regards and happy travels
