No dramas, a few puddles - the worst ones with bypasses; nothing to worry about!!

Gidday
I have done it at that time (like the others above ) with no problems but I know of some people who had to cancel in October last year because of late rain. And it doesn't take a lot to turn that country boggy.
With the way the seasons are these days I would be having a
plan B. The good thing about that trip is that you don't have to drive for days to get to the start only to find that the track is closed.
I hope you get to go and enjoy the trp.
Cheers
Rocco

hi caseyvz
the
holland track is one of the easest tracks around in wa
my 18yr old daughter drove it without any problems 1 year into her p-plates
the only time it will be a challenge to anyone is after a deluge of heavy rain through the
southern cross /
hyden areas in which case it is usually closed by calm www.dec.wa.gov.au for track closure imfo www.fuelwatch.wa.gov.au for current fuel prices re:
hyden /kalgoorlie etc
the local garage and/or the
hyden wave rock caravan park manager 08/98805022 is a great source of up to date knowledge of the current track conditions so give him a ring prior to departing also you can
check current rainfall on www.ozforecast.com.au or the bom weather site will give up to date total rain for each month for anywhere in australia www.bom.gov.au
october is pretty much into the end of the rain period as mentioned there maybe the odd puddle of water at the bottom of some of the undulating parts of the track but generally its a breeze and an enjoyable drive
suggest buying a copy of the
holland track book if the history of it interests you hope this imfo is usefull
cheers

hi caseyvz
yes because if it is that wet that you need diff locks and a winch the track will be closed by dec ( calm)
to stop 4wds from cutting it up and causing unneccessary long term damage
if you
check per my advice before leaving
the few puddles you will encounter wont be any problem
your more likely to bash the side of your c/trailer on a tree trunk/branch than get bogged gentle carefull driving will get you through without damage
anyone who trys to drive through like a hoon at breakneck speed will come unstuck but otherwise its not a challenge
cheers

if you go alone tell the police at
hyden your estimated time of arrival at other end and when you get there ring back and confirm your arrivaland dont forget
their happy to do that or the caravan pk manager may oblige as
well
that way if you broke down for instance and dont own a sat phone at least some one will start looking
i have dont above each time i go between
hyden -
norseman /
hyden -
coolgardie
or vice versa
cheers

Caseyvz,
Is that the long weekend ? There will be plenty on the track that weekend.
Track is not difficult and even in the wet, if you take it easy and think about what you are doing and be careful, you will make it through.
I often use the route heading to Kal as the highway is very boring. Have been up the track more than 20 times and only once with another traveller. Came across more than a handful of travellers on each occasion.
BW.
