Savannah Way

G'gay all,
Has anyone travelled between Bourketown and Booroloolo recently. I want to take a Boroma van through and wondered about the road condition. Am at Karumba and wanted to save a few kms if possible
Thanks,
John

Hi John, VERY busy with 4 times the traffic as of last year, road is ok, even had 2wd's travel through .....
Watch the trucks carting gravel as repairs/works are in progress in 3 locations that i know of ...
Travel slow and safe.
Cheers

From one Joe to Another...
Thanks for that...
I'm the same as John E - wondering whether we can tow our Discovery twin axle onroad van over that stretch - if we take it easy...
Joe... Do we need any permits for that route..?
Thanks, Jedo

No, no permits required, you also CAN carry alchole with you, any type and amount as long as it stays in the car and is not in view and you do NOT consume any in the surrounds of Doomadgee..............................
You are classed as a "bonafide traveller" and that way you are fine ......
Enjoy your trip,
Cheers

G'Day John E...
I wanted the same advice you are asking - inadvertantly posted before looking... Hope you don't mind me tagging along in your thread...

Thanks to all who replied.
I lost my email service before recieving the replies and left. Went from Karumba to Adels Grove then to Domagee ,couldn't get to Kingfisher Camp because of fires. Got to Borroloolo today. Road was ok for most of the way ,a fair bit of corrugation between Hells Gate and Borroloolo. No damage to van except for something went wrong with the battery charger. Would be reluctant to tow a van that wasn't high clearance
Next stop is Lorella Springs
Thanks again
John
