Why are there so many Vic's migrating to Qld??
We have just completed a 16 day tour of Victoria (our first) and I must say that we found Victoria fantastic. What a wonderful place.
I had it all wrong. With so many Vic's moving north I though it must be a dog of a place .... but no!!! (Maybe every season except summer is totally miserable.)
We met many wonderful people and visited some stunning places.
Couldn't get over the coastal scenery and bays etc...blew us away.
We'll be back as soon as we can.
Well done Victoria!
5500K's through Vic and got flashed by a fixed speed camera in NSW (of course) on the way home to Bris. (We must have missed the 80K sign while looking for directions or signs etc)
Have you noticed that Qld takes the "Every K over is a killer" approach but as soon as you cross into NSW you see the "We'll get you sooner or later" billboards.(And they used to say Qld was the "police state") Oh well!
Cheers

Yes, Oskar I agree Vic's a great place to visit.... Try the wineries, the great Alpine Road, the Great Ocean Road, and so much more, it's all great.
but I had to spend the whole of last winter there and I know why they come North in winter...
And as for Victorian "revenue raising" tolls, speed cameras etc.-
don't ask, as the reply may offend.

Mate
Didn't have a problem in Vic but we heard all the gripes about the "revenue raising" on the radio while we were down there.
Got booked in NSW
We did the high country, the Great Ocean Road, Echuca, 4WD in The Grampians, Ballarat and the Gippsland coast etc and camped and swum the Murray.
All great stuff.
Cheers

Some move north is search of a dream. Most don't find it and move back. The weather over winter is the pits but it's only a few short months and well worth putting up with for what the state has to offer.I may be mad but I'm not crazy

It is such a great place because we are getting rid of all the rubbish and the people left behind are just fabulous - even if I have to say so myself.......
Where in Victoria did you go??

I seem to frequent Victoria quite a lot and returned yesterday from Anglesea. I concur with you that the state is very scenic and I have found the motorists a hell of a lot more courteous than SA city drivers, especially in Xmas and New Year traffic.

Being aware of the horrific traffic regulations and fines I have worn out the brake pads on the Commodore riding the brakes to maintain 50kmh down hill. The 100kmh speed limit is very tiring but out in Western Victoria it is upgraded to 110.

We had all kinds of weather over the three weeks we were there and it was not considered by us to be swimming weather but the dog got a good run on the beach.

Cheers,
Willem

Always going somewhere
