At last some sense is being applied to the multitude of speed zones.

See link here.

Lets hope it spreads.

Cheers

Just wait until all the people with a knot in their face start to reply to this topic!!!
It has gone viral in other forums and the Age today.

I've got to ask, what's a 'knot in their face'?

It makes me laugh just thinking about it.

About time the 70 and 90 disappeared, some 50 zone to 60 I'm ok with.

Not sure about removing the buffer zones, I hate travelling country roads at 100km and hit a 50 km zone (country NSW) without adequate pre-warning.

I tend to know that they are there but others who don't know start to overtake as I slow down only to be hit with the 50 zone and jam on the brakes.

Tony,
I belief you will find they will have lead in signs that will read 60 zone ahead reduce speed.

Thanks Rockape,

They do have the lead in 60 or 50 signs in the areas, but only 100 mtrs or so from the lower limit.

In the picture the speed right up to the 50 AHEAD sign is 100 kmh

This is where people overtake when you slow down, missing the sign on the right. Then speed right into Dungog.

I would hope that RMS (RTA) would start painting the speeds on the roads a few times, I am sure other states will do it better... :)

I think it was the Labor government that introduced that in NSW. I just hope the Vic government introduce that policy a little quicker than it is being introduced in NSW.

I can see most of the 70 & 90 km/h stretches being slowed down rather than being sped up.

just watch the 40 ks take over !! not that it bothers me as I obey most road rules but if the majority of people cant slow down for schools or roadwork's whats the point ? ohh yes money

The common sense approach should be that all States adopt the practice if its sensible, as per Natioanl Road Rules.. not just 1 State doing it....and the rest of the place and travellers not being particularly aware of it.
