Me and a mate are heading up to Mackay in a few weeks, just wanting to know if there is any good four wheel driving in the area? we will be in Eungella for a night, but we have four days to burn and we want to make it worth while.

Big F.

Go through Eungella to Diggings Rd and follow that to Broken River, cross it and there are tracks of the side if you keep going you will end up on the Eungella to Eungella Rd. Turn left and go out to Crediton Forestry and you will find number of tracks.

Grab a pie at Pinniacle pub before Eungella then head back to the Septimus turn off. Drive until you reach a sharp 90 degree left hand bend. Swing right into what looks like a cane farm and take the left fork in the road. Enjoy.

Google Mt Britton as that is a good place to visit and there is a track behind it that is worth the drive.

Cathu state forest is another place about 80k north of Mackay. Bruce highway to Yalbaroo and turn left about 4k past. Well sign posted.

Google maps is your friend.

there is a system of walking tracks thru that area that are documented on national parks brocures and maps.

Walking tracks .....hhhmmm yeh ......BUT the road accesses are all marked too

there is a toursit info center in mackay, or as you head out of meckay on the right hand side heading west on the Eungela rd there is an old house converted in to an information centre

either should fix you up.

cheers
