Alan, don't limit your choice to just these two clubs, other clubs for example the HF Radio Club have/are upgrading and offer a whole raft of the latest technology plus low joining and membership fees, very good Australia-wide coverage, direct RFDS connection and so on, check'em out.

Alan I forgot to mention that Roy would not mind you calling in and saying G'day during a sked 4.30 to 5pm WA time, morning sked 8am to 9pm WA time, he will not tell you off and read the rule book about not being a member and using his frequencies, a few people do call in who are not members and have a talk with him, it may not be Legal as someone will point out, but that's life......................I wanted to change my sellcall number with VKS to a number that WAS AVAILABLE to the same number as my HFRC/Austravel number, I was told in no uncertain terms that their rules state they will not change sell call numbers for members, and new members have to take the next available number full stop.............................Regards Cobber (WA)

Al,
I have used both.

Go with VKS737 for a reliable, consistent, professional and friendly mob.

HF Radio club are ok for the East Coast also.

Cheers

We have been with VKS for about 4 years.

The operators are always friendly and helpful and will try to encourage you to talk which is helpful if you are a bit nervous and not sure exactly what to say.

We also like being able to listen to the morning skeds while we pack up camp. Its very interesting to hear people call in from all over the place.

Cheers

We have been with VKS737 for about seven years. Very helpful and highly professional. Would be my first port of call in an emergency.
