Hi, I am contemplating swapping our RM2453 3 way for a 12/240 Vitriofrigo.

Has anyone practical experience in doing a direct replacement?? I need to know the model number of the replacement. It will be in a Paramount van

Regards GT

Hi. Somewhere in the caravaners forum, is a list of Dometic fridges (by model no.) that are too wide to be removed easily out through the standard size door. I think it was put up by a fellow who calls himself "cabcar" His name is Barry and he had/has a Caravan repair business and lately took over a manufacturer. Bob.

Hi GT

We replaced the gas fridge in a wind up camper with a 12/240 compressor fridge. At the time we found an Engel upright caravan fridge that exactly fitted the space. It was not as silent as the Vitrifrigo, but efficient. The 130 litre remote compressor Vitrifrigo in our present caravan is a similar size.

GT, if you re considering changing because the fridge doesn't get cold enough on 12V there is an almost no cost alternative.

1)rewire the fridge and your vehicle with 6AWG wire.
2)put insulation around the fridge
3)Put in a fan.

If you do this it will be a completely different fridge.

Thanks Boobook,

"Been there done that" thanks but I have tried everything to improve the performance!! They may work in moderate cllimates but sure don't work up here !!!

Hi GT
Better late than never.

I was under the impression that that the 12 volt circut was only for travelling. When camped you used the gas or 240.The 12 volt is only supposed to keep things at a reasonable temperature.
