After leaving
Marree & heading for
Port Pirie, we were thinking of travelling via
Roxby Downs & staying o/night in a cabin at a van park there or
Woomera. Has anyone had any experiences at either of these towns/CV parks? Is there much to see? Other alternative was to travel via
Leigh Creek & have a quick look at
Flinders Ranges. Only have two days to do the trip.
Thanks.

There is a bit to see in
Woomera, but half the town is gone, and the other half is empty buildings...
Can highly recommend the
Woomera Caravan park, we had a great time there. Set up for the night, and then stroll over to the on site bar, and have a couple of (very
well priced) drinks, before meandering back and having some dinner.
The place itself isn't much, but it's clean,
well kept, and the owners are friendly.

We recently stayed at
Pimba Roadhouse. Its free, there are showers (pay ),
toilets, water and of course there is the roadhouse where you can get a meal or just go to the bar.
As for
Woomera,
well its only 6k away and I for one as an ex RAAF serviceman enjoyed the museums there. Sure the towns half gone and there isnt a lot there but there are the basic facilities such as a supermarket etc.
Cheers,
Cruiser

What are the cabins like there? The OP wants a cabin to stay in.

Cannot speak for any accommodation at
Roxby Downs but found
Woomera interesting and the CP is not too bad at all.
We had a van so not sure about the rooms but can vouch for the nice outdoor bar.
Another possibility is to head to Parachilna and have an experience at the Prairie Hotel/Accommodation (various types).
From there you could do
well to visit a couple of the local gorges which are not too far from the hotel as
well as the
Blinman loop.
Contact for the Hotel is 1800 331 473 and info

The road kill meals are delicious.

Haven't stayed at
Woomera, but if you're thinking of Roxby, make sure there's plenty in the bank a/c. Rates are double anything else we've stayed at.
Happy trails, Mike.
