We are currently in
Derby, and going to
Cape Leveque next.
Does anyone have recent information on the shortcut from
Derby to
Beagle Bay?
Landcruiser towing off road camper, just crossed
Gibb River etc,
Moonies book says it is OK, map says not gazetted. Saves a lot of distance!
Thanks, Peter

Friends used it last July - don't think they'd chose to again. It was quite damaged, some areas very hard to follow (no clear track) and areas looked prone to lying water (read swampy) if you'd had any rain recently? Lots of gates too not that that's an issue but it does make you doubt yourself that you're on the right track!!
Obviously they're just one party - we came up from
Broome so didn't need it.
(Also Landcruiser + Kimberly Camper)

Took the standard route on my motorbike to
Cape Leveque not long ago, but that short cut sure sounds like alot more fun- hang on, its not about fun is it?.

phenders88,
We came through that way 4 weeks ago and it was a great run in our Prado towing an Ultimate. Two of our friends towed Trakmasters through as
well and clearance was a little tight for the bigger Kimberly model.
You will have no trouble.

TTD

Hi, thanks for info. We ended up in
Broome anyway to see the moon staircase, which was a bit of a fizzer - huge wildfires just out of
broome turned the moon red, and. It was more of a short red step ladder!! Would have been better going straight to
cape leveque. Now heading up the
cape leveque road today
Cheers peter
