Hi All,

My wife and I will be travelling to the Kimberley area in a couple of weeks and will need to have the forby serviced at Alice Springs. We have a Patrol. Does anyone have a recommended service mechanic or should we just head for the local Nissan Dealer?

Thanks in advance for your suggestions.

Cheers

I would recommend Intune Automotive.

I have been using Steve since 2005. He knows OKAs too :-)

Sounds good.
Most dealers who see an interstate traveller number plates don't necessarily do the required work, cos they calculate you will be gone and away before you find all is not well.
I know off a few friends who have been treated in this manner at the Alice. One found diff oil was not changed, only checked for level, and the plug wasn't tightened in the diff. Lost lots of oil before the Rock through the loose filler plug which was just screwed in a couple of threads, no more than that. Luckily the plug just stayed there. Other items also not done. Colorado vehicle. Nudge nudge, wink, wink.

Hello Bob and Di,

I have over the years done may long distance trips and have had service done while away. When I had a Jackaroo I could not find any one in Northern Queensland to do the service. All were booked out for weeks.

Experience has shown me to get any major service done before you leave or when you get home. (even if it is a bit early or late) Take a Nissan oil filter with you and have some one like Ultra Tune just change your engine oil and replace the filter at 10k.

No Nissan service is that critical that it cannot wait a few months.

Hope this helps.
