does anyone out there know how to read the code on batteries to tell how old they are thanks allen

I used to install batteries when I was a Roadside mechanic for the RACQ but that was a while ago, so this info might not be relevant anymore.
1 of the terminals would have a letter stamped telling you the month and the other terminal would have a single number telling you the year. For example D9 would mean it was manufactured April 2009. If a battery had I2 it could be September 2012 or September 2002 - you would obviously know which decade by how old it looked.

That info is still fairly accurate Col except they dont seem to stamp the posts any more. It is mainly in the plastic case on the top but sometimes it can be around the edge of the top too. Bob.

I guess it is only really relevant for warranty purposes anyway, otherwise they wouldn't even bother with the stamps.

what brand?
some stamp posts some use push out tabs
others stamp the case
the manafacturers stamp will indicate the date sometimes down to the day
