Was on there a couple of weeks back between Laverton & Warakurna & return. Trip east was atrocious with totally disgusting corrugations and long deep sand sections. The corrugations were so bad that I went from overdrive to 3rd gear with some sections just sapping the power out of the car.

A fortnight later heading west -totally different road, even though we managed to shred a tyre 32Km east of Warburton, only stony section we hit. Road works & grading are in progress ATM also.

BTW fuel at Warburton is $2.38 & Warakurna $2.32. Didn't get fuel at Tjukayirla as we didn't need it, but was informed it is the dearest place for fuel on the GCR.

Unfortunately we had to get there and back in a hurry so couldn't take advantage of the scenery and points of interest. Enjoy the road and drive to the conditions as it changes from day to day week to week.

Thanks Dunc,
I had heard that fuel prices were in the $2.30 range. One web site suggested that I treat my fuel like gold (more so that locals don't pinch it thinking it is unleaded and use it for sniffing). Not too hard to do at that price .......

Ya know what? If you want to travel out there, you exepect to have to pay for fuel, in a place that is very remote, and has gone to a huge expense to make sure fuel is available to you whingers at all...
If uou even need to check the price in a place like that, then you have no business being there n he first place... Stay in the city.

No issue Croozerute.

Only mentioned the fuel prices as some people like to budget for their trips. Me I just pay what they want, not many options out that way, and if I want to travel those roads expect to pay a premium.

hi
we came from the Olga's onto GCR about 10 days ago thru docker river and up to the WA border the road

was reasonable with a bit of everything including the good old corrugations...but once we got over the border it kept getting better and better.... we turned off just passed Warburton onto the heather highway up to the gunbarrell highway...but at the time travellers were saying the road was good just about all the way to Laverton....happy travelsross and chris.
