Thank you for that. I know it happens. As it is happenning with my Patrol. I am looking for info as I have been told it is a design fault, and apparently Nissan has recognised this. But before I approach Nissan I need some info to take with me.

Yes quite common, Nissan dealers were replacing them under warranty.

Apparently consumer affairs are aware of the problem and encourage you to negotiate for replacement through dealers.

Chap I know contacted them and pursued the issue with local Nissan dealer (next door business) and ended up having to deal with Nissan head office - got mucked around a fair bit from memory with - no / yes / maybe, responses - but had the dash eventually replaced without cost.

Pays to be tenacious - keep notes of contacts made with everyone and get the appropriate documentation from consumer affairs relating to the problem to wave around at Nissan.

Only reason I was kept informed was that he knew my son also has the same model - but that hasn't had a problem (to date).

Good luck

Regards - Phil

Couple years ago there was a thread on this sight stating that Nissan would replace bubbled dash for specific dates. Our Patrol fell between these dates went to Nissan distributor and replaced no problems no cost. Suggest you try to find out dates and then approach them

There shouldn't be a problem, Nissan are replacing a lot of these dash's I know of a couple of cars that have had them replaced twice due to the problem reoccuring.

Thanks Happytravelers,
I will seeing Nissan in the next day or so. Mine had a couple of small bubbles for awhile but in the past couple of months it has really bubbled. My Patrol is now out of warranty. Had the 3 year warranty plus extended 2 year. Which finished 2 years ago.

Had mine replaced 3 weeks ago. 2008 model. No questions asked, no hassle given, just had to wait a week for part to arrive.

I had an auto leccy remove the hands free kit and UHF because Nissan were going to charge me to remove anything that wasn't original. I didn't mind because it prompted me to have some more gear fitted that I had been putting off.

Cheers,

MUZZ

the nugget

your 4WD maybe out of warranty, but it would cost just bit of your time and fuel to go back and Nissan people for help. You never know, they may be approachable. The 4WD is not a cheap thing to buy, and rules may bend little.... if they want.
If not, maybe consumer affair would help.

Thanks Olsilver, also to Donna I have approached my Nissan Dealer, Sympathetic and have lodged to Nissan Australia a request of Goodwill to replace the dash. Time will tell.

The pic below is what happens when these dashboards are not replaced.
This pic is from a 2008 patrol I hired through work last week up north.
