serpentine lakes

To Anne Beadell travellers
Is there any water in Serpentine lakes ,I am making the enquiry for a friend who is leaving Melbourne next weekend . I did the Anne Beadell in 1998 in a 3 car convoy and we left a galvanised container and visitors book at the WA/SA border , is it still there ? We took along Len Beadells book pertaining to that track and actually found one of his camps east of the lakes , with old oil and fuel filters where the equipment had been serviced while the men waited for Len to return from a forward scouting/surveying trip . We met the Wa police east of Neale junction who were on a scouting mission to the SA border to meet the Cooper Pedy police and gather infomation . due to the fact that more traffic was using the Anne Beadell highway and the police from both states did not really know what was along the track if they were called upon. To all future travellers take your time and have a good look around [we took 13 days to complete the trip ] you may not get back there

Hi Poppa Bear

We have not been out to Serpentine Lake for a couple of years, but from conditions further east only a few weeks ago, it was the Anne Beadell as usual, a great drive. To close the track across the Lakes would need a good amount of local rain and I know that rain has not been over plentiful out that way lately.

As for your galvanised container, this was where the visitors book was located 2 years ago......

Your friend will have a great time.

Cheers

Stephen
