Gday
My darling and I have just spent a week in Darwin camped on the 8th floor of the Mantra on the Esplanade, The room was very nice with a kitchen ette and lounge room. We also had a veranda out the back to watch the world go by in the afternoon and evening, very pleasant.
Actually we just wanted to have a look at the town where we were living 40 odd years ago.

Gday Muzza
The reality is , i have to go back to work on Monday.....

and a good time was had by us both. Poor old ' K' had the swets up just looking out the window . We drove up in an A321, not a bad way to drive, quite comfortable and i didnt have to stop for a pee at any time.

Darwin was already a steamy place when we were there 2/3 weeks ago... Sounds like you and your darling pushed the humidity even higher... :)
Would be a MUCH changed Darwin than you remember from 40 yrs ago though...
14 yrs ago when we first visited Darwin, the city shopping area was packed with locals and tourists... But this year, seemed very quiet - shops closed-down... Few people...
Mindl Market was very much alive with people though... a LOT more FOOD outlets...
And Casuarina Shopping Centre was very busy...

I was looking for Explooroz bumper stickers and was surprised , i didn't see any. There were very few 4x4 travelers and caravan parks were quite empty.
I had one pork bun at Mindl market and went back to tha Char Grill restraunt on the Esplanade for a top class feed. What a good place to eat.

As for the humidity and temp, it was hotter at 4.30 am in Darwin than the high was in Melbourne when we arrived hom at lunch time.

Never been there Muz , but now I know why you car hasn't been in the work carpark.
Heard lot of stories from grandfather who was there during the war though , sounds like the 4wd seen up there is a bit quiet , is this the case ?

I went for a solo drive yesterday up Pauls Spur track (Toolangi Vic.) and was surprized to find other cars and bikes out there having fun mid week.

Gday Robin
This is the end of the nice weather in Darwin Robin. Now it starts to be very humid and about 32c to 35c every day and 100% humidity. It was 35c on Monday last and we were walking around the city , inside shops is ok but the dash to the next shop is hot and moist.
Nice to see you doing solo runs, i was going to Walhalla today, but stayed home instead , it looks a bit humid ........

Glad you enjoyed your time here in Darwin. I have only been here 12 years, and things are totally different since then.
Funny thing with Darwin is that as soon as it gets warm and humid there is a mass exodus by our southern cousins. If one can accept that the tropics are warm and humid, then it's a great time to visit with many attractions yours to see without the hordes of tourists that are here in June and July.
Do what the locals do, grab a nice bottle of something, a bbq dinner, and go and enjoy the sunset.

I met my darling in Darwin 1969 and had a very nice time , raceing motor bikes and courting . Darling had a problem with her mother in law and the best thing to do was move on.That's the reason we left. We needed to go back and have a look.
