G,Day all.
We have only recently completed the Tanami from
Halls Creek Through to Alice Spring and found the road just over the border into NT the worst for about 60+ km the
grader was working around the the Tanami Downs ( Quartz Ridge ? ) we towed a 21ft Tanami Trakmaster as of yet have still not seen any Camels and we are wondering if there are such animals in central Aust.

G'day "H",
we did the Tanami Rd a couple of weeks ago and didn't see any camels.
We went over west by the
Gary Junction Rd and saw about a dozen live camels and four, or five , dead ones, plus about a million camel tracks.
We heard on Maccas show, two weeks ago, there are over a million feral camels in Australia.
Here's alink to some facts -
camel fact sheet

Steve

Maybe the Tanami is a bit busy for them. We must have passed a dozen vehicles before
Yuendumu.
It seems like you'll come across more camels south of there. Saying that, there's a lot of desert for them to roam about in. They wouldn't need to hang around the roads.

There are plenty of them North of the Tanami too.....probably more south but when you get off the road a bit you come across a few.
