With the ICom 400-Pro Uhf radio do you need a computer to put in the frequencies into the spare 88 channels? or can you put them in like you do on the GME4400, Regards Mike

Can't speak directly to the 400-pro, but with the IC40 they must be dealer programmed as these units are also capable of transmitting on those other channels, for this reason alone they need to be dealer programmable only.

Can you imagine the chaos, if people tried to transmit over Emergency service frequencies.

Been looking at the Icom myself and as far as I can figure they have to be dealer programmed. They are private Tx/Rx channels at 25W output, rather than Rx only like the GME radios.

It's in the back of the useless instruction manual they provide, they are user programable. Only between 450,000 and 500,000 Mhz though.
