I have are caravan with what i believe to be 3 x 80 watt solar panels mounted on the roof .I would like to mount an extra 2 x 100 or 120 watt solar panels BUT i have been told they would only supply the same amount of charge [or watts] as the smaller panels the next person of knolage tells me if you run them threw a regulator every thing will be all right ?? who right & who is wrong? any comment would be welcome. swampy

Hi Peter,
Different capacity solar panels should all work okay together as long as they all feed
into a solar regulator that has ample capacity to handle the charge.
It is also important to run as heavy wiring as you possibly can to reduce voltage drop.
Also all the panels should run a blocking diode each to prevent reverse current back into the panels. I run 3 x 64 watt panels and have a 30 amp solar regulator which is more than required but also allows for any future expansion.
Regards,
Gethro
