I am looking for an offroad trailer with some accessories such as gas bottle holder, battery, jerry can holders but without the actual canvas tent on top. My son already has a good quality expensive tent and just wants the 'bottom half'.The only one i can find is Jimboomba campers Does anyone know of others?
Thanks

I don't know where you are, but I think most trailer manufactures would be more than happy to make one to suit your requirements.
I have had a Trailerworld galvanised off road box for many years and have just added what I needed to it as required. They are on the service road at Underwood in Logan City.

Track Mate.
Nomad this is the ideal top end solution available as a bare gear trailer through to a fully fitted out camper which Track have cleverly marketed to tradies so can be used as a tax deduction.
Plenty of other camper manufacturers like Cutting Edge Steel that will customize to your needs. I bought an IFS chassis off them & built my own top.
Cheers Craig..........

Too much ;-)
To be honest I didn't add it up so my wife wouldn't know plus did most of the fabrication myself. Hot gal IFS suspension & chassis don't come cheap plus it has a full swing out kitchen.

Would highly recommend one of these Road and Track trailers minus the canvas.

The website here says that they are no longer available new, unfortunately. However they do occasionally come up for sale secondhand.

We bought a secondhand one through eBay a few years ago. It has now done 3 big trips (including the northern half of the Canning) and we have been very happy with how it has performed. It is fibreglass, so lightweight (about 300kg unladen) but can carry about 500kg of stuff. Also lockable and dustproof, space for 2 jerries, gas bottle on the front. Ours was made in 1986 and has a lot of trips in it yet.

Cheers,

Val.

I have one that I am using as a camping trailer (the tent was up when a storm came through... bugga). The only thing is the top (where the double bed sat) is chipboard so that needs to be changed. Before it was always sheltered by the tent whereas now it is open to the elements. The point of my posing is to say - if you find a second hand one minus the tent (and there must be lots around) then there may be extras need done to it to make it watertight. If you find one it should be heaps cheaper than getting one built.

Good luck.

you need to check the drop of the tent from top on trailer to the floor so the trailer you buy suits the tent.

Gday,

Camel trailers built us an off-road trailer without the canvas as we already had a rooftop tent to mount on it. They replaced the normal lid with a metal one which we used as the base for the rooftop tent.

We were very happy with the result. Their factory is in Underwood, south of Brisbane.

Cheers
Chris
