G'day all
The 'dried arrangement' and I have arrived in
Port Hedland.
If you have not been up here for a while then you will find quite a few changes.
Both Port and South Hedland are both beautyfing the towns by building
walking tracks with gym equipment, planting trees everywhere, and new roads and housing estates.
The build up is almost here, but we are lucky as we are only here for another 2 weeks.
If you do travel through this way and are looking for work then you will need accomodation. If your in a van you can't
free camp in or around town. (Tourist info advised).
There is however plenty of work around here.
If you do pass through feel free to give me a MM and we can meet for coffee.

Boo Boo. Do enjoy your stay in the
Pilbara it is a spectacular place but I am a tad bias as I have lived here for many moons.
Please can I add a word of warning from a resident. Yes there is work around but a lot of it pays "regular" wages and rents are $2000 per week. Many come with high ambitions and leave because of the rental situation. If you have a desirable trade you are best advised to seek work through a recruitment company and get yourself set up BEFORE you come into the
Pilbara.
Cheers
Sue

G'day Sue
Thankyou for the welcome and advice.
France, my wife, is the worker and has a job for 2 weeks that comes with a house.
I'm qualified in OHS, but it's easier for Frances to get locum gp work around Australia so thats the way we go.
Normally we drive to jobs, but this was a bit far from the east coast. lol
I had a look at the rents etc up here and they are high are'nt they?
