Hi all. I have a 17' Jayco Sterling Pop Top. I store her in my driveway with top locked down and with cover over her. I haven't used her since May but last week slipped down South for a few days and when I popped the top, I noticed a couple of fine slits in the vinyl. This leads me to ask the question "should a pop top be stored with the top up or locked down"? Any ideas would be appreciated.

Hi Silver, I asked the same question a while back & opinion seemed divided over up or
down. What I have done is leave it down with the catches unlocked. This, apparently
takes the pressure off the seals & prevents sticking.I have also sprayed the seals with
aerosol silicon..avoiding the vinyl & stitching. If your vinyl is cracking/splitting this may
be a
sign of general fatigue due to age. My experience of such things is only recent &
others may be able to offer more qualified help.
Mine is stored in a shed. cheers...oldbaz.

Silver,
I do exactly what Oldbaz does. I have a 17foot coromal and the owners manual states to to leave the top down when storing.

Thanks for taking the time to reply guys.......my van is a 2008 model, so I'm thinking that the vinyl is still in good condition.....but I will get it checked out.
