Hi all we are looking to mount our sat dish on the rear bumper of the caravan is there a bracket and arm available if not what suggestions do you have for manufacturing one. The arm needs to be moveable and be able to extend.
Any ideas would be appreciated.

Hi terry

I have mine mounted on the plate on the drawbar of the van.
It is mounted on the flat plate the tow hitch connects to

I use a piece of 16g exhaust tube and fix it with a length of 12mm threaded rod
The rod runs the full length of the tube and the tube has a cap on the top with a 12mm hole.
Just drill a 13mm hole in the plate and install the rod, add a nut and washer to the bottom and tighten at the top
Once tight it doesnt move.
Just point the dish where it needs to go. About 30 NE or something.

I do not travel with the dish or tube assembly as too many vibrations for the dish

Regards
Geoff

you could do the same for the rear bumper if the van was not situated so as to be able to get the sat lined up

We too have ours mounted like Geoff using exhaust pipe which we had bent specifically to our requirements.

Our sat dish travelled on the rear bumper attached to the exhaust pipe around Oz for 15 months - we had no issues with vibration. Many people would come and check out our set up to see how it was mounted.

As we used a "trailamate" type of jockey wheel which my better half made a bracket for on our A frame, it meant that we weren't using the original jockey wheel bracket on the A frame. Then, when we required the sat dish to be mounted at the front of the van so we could get signal, we just moved the sat dish and pipe from the rear bumper and used the original jockey wheel bracket to hold the exhaust pipe. We never required the original stand for the sat dish in all of our travelling which meant one less item to haul around. It worked a treat :-)

If you would like any pictures, I can arrange if it would help.

Have a look at this thread on Caravaners Forum Sat TV Dish Mounts
I mount and transport mine on straight pipe on the A frame. I have a second pipe on the rear bumper. Both are secured with a jockey wheel clamp.
