Ok,firstly thanks to all the members who helped me with advice, there was a member in NSW,I think, called Mark,I meant to send a PM too,who really had some good view points for me to consider.
Well,I have gone and purchased a XL model, that is 198 cm by 77 cm by 7.5 cm thick. There was a 5 cm thick one which was a bit cheaper on ebay, but I want this to be a life time purchase so payed the extra to get the 7.5 cm thick one.Which cost me $213 delivered.
I notice they do not come with a 'stuff bag',I'd like to get something like this to keep it in
http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=290783037338&ssPageName=ADME:B:WNASIF:AU:1123
Scroll down to see 'sea to summit' stuff bag.
Obviously, this model is too small, but where can I find a similar item to keep my new Thermarest in?
Thanks for any advice.

Before you do much else Darter, you might want to get a bit of practise rolling the thing up and seeing to just what over all diameter you can roll the mattress down to on a consistent basis. Nothing worse than getting a bag that’s too tight. Make sure the bag is a little oversize to allow for those days when you just can’t get it rolled down tightly.
I’d try Klaus at In front Canvas and get him to make you something to fit. He's always looking to keep the missus busy and off his back. He and Lynn make good gear as to which many forumites will vouch for.
In Front Camping Gear
Cheers Mick

Do not store it rolled up. Only roll and put in bad when travelling - in between trips leave the valve open and store inflated.

Strongly agree. My Thermorest is over 30 years old and always stored unrolled with the valve open.

Hi Darter, I bought a new thermarest a few weeks ago and it came with a bag but it wasn't in the bag when it arrived. The bag was rolled up in the middle of the matress, I'm just wondering if yours is there somewhere and you haven't noticed it yet. Hope it is !!
Cheers'

it has not arrived yet,so it may come with bag,I heard that they did not come with bag,so maybe this is wrong.
Thanks all for storage tip advice.

I have heard they are good but for that kind of coin you would think they would include a bag.

Darter
As above keep in "inflated" with the valve open, under a bed in your roof rafters where ever, but probably not on concrete as with swags. We keep ours under our beds.
To secure it when you are travelling and require it rolled up, just make a velcro strap or a large piece of elastic from a Manchester
shop. Suggest you somehow adhere it to the middle of the top of the mat (end where the valve is) so you don't loose it.
Size and weight matter when backpacking through the bush, I've been very happy with 5cm, so you will be delighted with 7.5
