Hi travellers,

Was returning from a trip to Cape York and needed a place to roll out the swag last week.

I used the HN6 and Camps 6 to locate a free camp. On arrival at the site we found Council signs saying no camping. We took the risk and got away with it but don't say I didn't tell you.

Hi Greg,
We decided to stay there one night on our way north in 2010 and found it to be an idyllic spot.
Right beside the quiet road, nice lagoon, cattle mooching along, perfect for a happy hour. We were the only ones there.

Had tea and went to bed early, around 8pm and was disturbed by a vehicle about a half hour later which was acting in a funny manner which unsettled me.

I was not sure if it was someone who was deciding to get up to trouble or what.
So I got up and we drove through Rocky and carried on for the best part of 50 K north before stopping with a heap of others at Yaamba. Almost standing room only but safety in numbers.

It may have been something as innocent as a couple of lovers out for a peaceful hour or two, I do not know but I was not going to take a chance. If we had have been with another van I would have stayed there but one out is asking for trouble.

If it does not feel right then it is not right.

Must admit that it is a lovely spot though. Pity about the no camping sign.

Cheers, Bruce.
At home and at ease on a track that I know not and
restless and lost on a track that I know. HL.

"and was disturbed by a vehicle about a half hour later which was acting in a funny manner which unsettled me".

I remember that. It was just the missus doing a 45 point turn and revving the bejesus out of me poor old engine. She disturbs a lot of people like that.

That camp site was closed when we came down the coast in 2008.
Go caravaning, life is so much shorter than death.
