Can anyone recommend a good towing course in the west of melbourne (or the other side if I really have to) or in Geelong (better than the other side of town)?

I know many say they aren't necessary and that practice etc etc.....but I need to learn to reverse my van properly as my partner doesn't drive. When I tow a trailer I just take it off, turn the car around and rehitch....I have practiced a bit and am slowly improving but think I need someone with me to help me through it. I will be spending good money on a car and van so think it's worthwhile to invest in a towing course. I plan to have my partner and our 4 kids in the car - so I need to be able to tow confidently and safely. So far the only one I can find is a tow-ed one but sadly it only has one date in december which will probably be a little too early for me (ie may not have car/van yet) and nothing for next year yet (I've emailed to ask)....are there any others?

I'm asking for recommendations of ones you've either done or know someone who has but also if there are any that are to be avoided good to know.

Yes that one I'm aware off as I said they do another one 12th December but I don't get my money to buy car/van til 10th so not sure I can organize both by the 12th dec. was looking for something either a week later or early January and wondering if there was any feedback on courses

I suggest you do the course before you get the van. Check with them about supplying a van. My brother did a course where they did supply a van for the day.

thanks, I did consider that option Racey but because I'm updating my car at the same time and going from a wagon (ba ford) which is rear wheel drive to a kia grande carnival (a bit over the dicky seats and kids are growing) which is front wheel drive. I really thought it was best to wait and go in the new car. I might have to wait for the new year - I did email them to ask about course dates for the new year. It seems like they are the only ones around. Other option is to see if they can do a private one for me - an extra $350 bucks though.

Reversing a van, is reversing a van, it doesn't matter what car you have, i'd take yu Ford if they can supply a van.
TIP:(Until you get used to reversing) When reversing a van, put your hand on the bottom of the steering wheel and then turn the steering wheel the way you want the van to go.
Hope this helps.
Cheers
