Hi All,

I have been looking for a while for a Hilux Ex-cab and have been offered a good one for a very reasonable price. The issue is however that it has a dropside tray which I am not keen on, but an considering removing this and then getting a style side ute back for it instead. Has anyone done this before? I think it should be pretty straight foward, but not sure about the fuel filler and if there is any other differences I am not aware of e.g. fuel tank placement, mounts etc.

I'm thinking I can get the new back for it from a wrecker so should be able to get all the parts I need, but if it is too much trouble will not bother and keep looking.

Thanks for the help.

hi jimmyboy, yes it is very straight forward. you do have to change the filler neck.

Have a chat with a few country toyo dealers that sell a lot of utes, when i was at holden we fitted a lot of custom trays and had a heap of new ute tubs lying around out the back, as did the toyo dealer nearby, wouldn't take much coin to get one off them. Comes with tailgate lights etc. Easy job with one or two mates and a few hours.Moo... everyone knows what a Jackaroo looks like :-)

Cheers Bradley and LBJ, sounds like it should be a pretty easy job (a few of the lads usually don't take much encouragement with the offer of a cold one or 2 for their trouble).

Will check with a couple of dealers as you said. I quite often go into country vic (parents live near Swan Hill on the murry) so will make a couple of calls.

Thanks again.
