I bought some 120W about 12 months ago and seem to do the job, cost about $275 from memory, one thing mine failed on was the cheap PWM controller buggered up, didn't matter anyway because I wired thru a anderson plug to a DC-DC charger which has its own inbuilt controller

Stan,

I got my 120w folding panels off Ebay through "Bits Deals", as said above the supplied regulator is a bit suss, but the panels do perform as required.

This is the one I think Kev is refering to, I have read good reports about them and also the dealer as well but as yet have not got one myself, it is on the short list though.

Hi Stan,
I also got a 160 watt panel from Bit Deals. I am very, very pleased with it. The supplied regulator is a very basic unit so I would upgrade to a better one, perhaps an MPPT unit as they are the best.
Otherwise I cannot fault the panel and I use it nearly every day at home here.

I have gotten on to a solar reg which I like because it has an easy to read display in the form of a gauge, unfortunately it is a PWM regulator but I am happy with it anyway and it is a STECA design.

This is it.

Cheers Bruce.

Same here,

2 separate purchases of 120 Watt panels from Bit Deals,
Both had failed Reg's.

Put full panel voltage to the batterys.
Seller was happy to replace the reg,

Both were Juta CMP-12's & I have little faith in them.
Replaced with a single 30 Amp reg from JayCar.

I bought the bit-deals 120watt folding also. I weighs around 15kg so I think 160watt may end up being a tad impracticle as far as storing and cartage. 120watt was down to $230 last time I looked. Bob.

I bought 3 x 95W panels 18 months ago and they've performed excellently. Can't believe how much they've dropped in price since then (30%). I got them sans controller and just pump the output open circuit into the Redarc BMS unit.

Cheers Mick

We've bought a dozen or so panels from Bit Deals over the last 2years, both folding and large 125w ones and all are performing well, one controller on a 160w folding set did bugger up after 12 months or so but was easily replaced with a better quality one.
Lots of acquaintances have also bought from them with success including one whose panel was broken in transit and was replaced ok.

I bought mine through OZPLAZA on ebay. You see exactly the same panels for sale at Camping shows for hundreds of dollars more.
I upgraded the Regulator (also off ebay ) and the wiring. Works a treat.

160 watts may be over kill for a 40lt fridge.

If you have the space you probably should have as much wattage as possible.
