Time to change our 1992 GXL 1hdt [385,000ks] with the 2in lift June is having trouble getting in and out [ we fitted a 12v step ] this helps getting in but not out.
Looks like we will have a budget of $40,000.
My thoughts to get a prado diesel will have to look 2008
to get a pajero diesel will have to look 2010
to get a 100 series diesel it will most likely have lots of ks
The main use will be our daily drive, towing our 22ft jayco, some sand driveing [like to fish the beaches when away] odd trip to the otways and high country [not the hard stuff done that] any ideas thanks malb.

I just bought the new colorado for $46k on road, that is the ltz 6 speed auto diesel with 470nm, hard to beat for the money but maybe not your cup of tea, just putting it out there, good luck with it!

Cheers

Perhaps you could trade to an April or May and see how that goes.
Sorry couldn't resist. I am now reprimanded.

Personally I would look at either the Dmax, not as much "stated" torque but sufficient and it has a good auto box.

The BT50 3.2 is also worth a mention, more torque/power. Some have had various problems.

Not a fan of Italian diesels and Commodore transmissions so I wouldn't consider the Colorado. Only the chassis and basic bodywork are the same as the Dmax.
Oldhen put their own sheetmetal, doors, guards bonnet, G,Box and bling onto the chassis.
The engine is called Duramax but not from the same stable as the renowned Duramax.
Sounds good doesn't it, "DURAMAX". As yet unproven here so may not be even live up to the name.

If June has been around since '92 then like Toyota, she is a bit of a stayer. Stick with the tried and true. These new overstressed dualies are starting to show all sorts of niggly problems. Can't beat the market leaders at the moment. Bob.

I am in a similar position as you. I am looking for a replacement vehicle. My pick for under $40,000.00 is a Disco 3.
140Kw. 440Nm claimed. I agree with you re 100 series , if you can find one it would be high Km, probably be gone by the time you get there. There is a D3 at present in Melbourne for $37990.00, 109334 Km 2005 model. I would be keen on it but it is a fair way from the Gold Coast. Have a look on the Internet. Regards G.T.
