I am in the process of replacing the rear springs on my 120 Prado so it doesn't sag as much when towing.
I had Lovells HD Standard Height,on my last beast and they were OK if a little stiff.
Has anyone used King springs? I can get a good price.

I have Kings in my 150...also went for Air Bags (only cost $295.00 whilst they were replacing the shocks and springs)
Quite a firm ride and with the air bags pumped up no sag at all....I don't yet tow but imagine with the bags pumped up even further it would almost eliminate that 100%
I like them...lots!!

I have a 120. Had King HD standard height and airbags in the rear. No problems at all with fully loaded car and 160kg on the hitch.
I changed to a 2" lift with King springs and rear airbags. Again, very happy.
The work was done by The Ultimate
Suspension, Noonan Rd, Ingleburn, NSW. Speak to Ken. No business connection, just a very happy customer

I went for the lift as
well...worked a treat for my
Simpson Desert Crossing in 2011 and
Cape York Old Tele Track trip this year. Heading to the
Canning Stock Route in 2013 so it will be tested yet again.
The only thing I'd say i that it does give you a much firmer ride that the standard set up

Thanks for the help.
I also thought about airbags only inside the standard springs. That way I only use them when I am loaded either with people or travelling.
Any experiences with airbags? Do they last a reasonable time ie rubbing on
the springs and gravel rash.

Hi Bill B,
we use to have Polyairs on our Landy for number of years. We were very happy with them. Only think is, you must remember to put air before loading vehicle or hooking tow.
Now we have Bellow bags installed by Heasmen Stearing. We have leaf springs on back of Troopy, and they are equally very good.
Cheers Dana
Ps: some info here:

Hi Bill. Had a 120 Prado for 7+ years with Firestone airbags in STANDARD springs. You can't beat the ride from original and the airbags are not noticiable exept for holding the weight. My towball weight is up at maximum when towing plus a fridge and whatever in the rear. Never needed to go above 10lb in the airbags and 5lb unloaded. Try them first before changing
the springs. I think you will be pleasantly surprised. I now have a 150 with the Firestones as
well. Just completed 4000km of towing without any hassles. The air pressure lasts many months if they are fitted correctly. You can get them from USA for around half Aus price. Cheers,Bob.

Polyairs are great have them in my patrol there 6yrs old and still good.I had the blue air bag man one's in a disco towing a 16' pop top from
perth to mackay and blew 2 sets of bags didn't even get 1,000 km out of any set ran them at 29 psi 1 psi under recommended pressure got a refund minus the origional fitting cost the valve
seat splits and leaks at the top of the bag their rubbish. Do yourself a favour stick with Polyairs they will last

Thanks to all,
I really appreciate all the ideas and experiences submitted.
I will be going down the Poly Road. Only thing to do now is to replace the shocks.
