I'm planning to head out to the QV Springs in a couple of weeks, then returning via Cundelee and the Trans access road.
All the posts that I can find regarding this area are at least 2-3 years old.
Has anybody travelled into QVS lately?
Any information on the current track conditions would be really useful.

Thanks

I haven't been out there myself, however our techs have been driving to N from Tropicana been a fir bit of rain out there so tracks will probably be either muddy or impassible depending on how much rain they have received.

Bushfires have also been occurring due to lightening strikes associated to the rain

Was through there three years ago. The only problem you might have if it has been wet is Poynton Creek, otherwise was ok when we were there. There are tracks everywhere just before Cundeelee so you will have to find the right to get around the old airstrip. There are heaps of old but good condition wrecks around the old town site have a good look around . We camped about 6 Ks nth of Zanthus and got past the springs and camped on the road near the edge of the reserve on the north side.
Great spot!!!!!
Lindsay.

Ponton creek wont present a problem unless there is a significant rain event

Its fed from the lakes around leonora - Lake rebecca etc and during significant rain events its turns into a massive inland river and has washed away the transline several times although there is a big bridge now.
It drains into Lake Boondaroo which prior to 1974 was a small unnamed claypan, It filled in 1974 and 1995

in 1995 it filled Lake boondaroo turning it into an inland sea and still had a couple of meters of water in it from then in 2004.

Worth a visit south of Zanthus - there are dead trees for KM showing the extent of the flooding

I was south east of Laverton a few weeks ago.

Country is dry. Road conditions normal.

Thanks for the input fellas...much appreciated.
It seems as if things have been fairly dry out there for a week or two and the forecast is promising...so hopefully I'll have a good trip...really looking forward to getting out there and seeing a bit of different country.

Thanks again
