Right here. This forum is great. I'm kind of in a similar situation, my best mate moved to melborne and now I am left doing little treks by myself, to scared to go anywhere to hard core as I might get stuck by myself and have no one to help me get out. I know plenty of people go out by themselves but I've always been happier with at least one other 4by on call.

try the WA 4 wheel drive association which has a list of all clubs
http://www.wa4wda.com.au/Clubs/clubs.htm
I'm sure other states have their own association lists as well. Don't feel shy or like an idiot joining a club. The thing to do is to contact a few of them in your area and find out the type of 4x4 club they are. Some are family based, others may be more hard core 4x4. If you like the sound of what they do, go along to a few trips and or meetings. If you don't like it try another. I can only speak for mine (Northside 4x4 in northern suburbs of Perth) but we welcome newcomers no matter what their past experience with 4 wheel drives.

Look at the association sites then also look around for other clubs that may not be listed with them. Also ask around your local area, especially ask other owners you see.

The best shot is to go to a few meetings at various clubs until you find the one that suits you.

good luck

This is a good place to start with, but for more specific Jeep stuff try here

http://ausjeepoffroad.com/forum/??sid=28a0fd27bb3e6a7e5c847e1e438be739

What these guys don't know about Jeeps isn't worth knowing anyway. HUGE contingent of Mexican Jeepers , and I think the Jeep Jamboree will be held in Vic this year.

Plenty of folks to go driving with and a Specific Jeep 4wd club as well.

(I'm a member of ACT Jeeptraction 4wd club).

I'm heading to the Pyrenees this weekend for a day trip, probably Sunday but maybe Monday. Drop me a line if you're interested.
