Having had another bad camping experience with inconsiderate people, loud music, noisy, un-ruly kids, parents who couldn't care etc etc, I'm wondering if anyone knows of any quiet, private camping spots in the bush or even in parks near Townsville and surrounds; say 300kms radius?
Paluma this weekend wasn't good - the sites are SO close together....
Whats' the point in getting away for some well-earned peace and quiet if your "neighbour" does repair work on his trailer?
And from experience it's no good asking them nicely - all you get is aggression and bad language in return.
I find it so sad and depressing at how morals and standards keep being eroded in society.
sigh....

Nice camp spot at Whallman Falls? They are the longest single drop falls. A bit of a slow climb to get up there thats why its quite. Good walk to the bottom of the falls as well.

Thanks Tony; we wanted to go up there not too long ago, but all the signs and info said not good for caravans and trailers - we have a trailer.
Is it possible?

A bit tight on some corners for a van, but trailer no worries.

Hi Sologirl
Are you in a 4wd and towing?
If not towing a large van there is access to beach camping just south of Rollingstone at Surveyor Creek under some Sheoak trees.
The track in is a little rough in places but only a 5 minute drive.
No facilities but a lovely view of the Palm Island group of islands and a long stretch of beach to choose from
Other option is Bushy Parker Park at Rollingstone, with toilets and cold shower and a few grey nomads, but a quiet spot on the river
Cheers Ray

Hi, At 300 kms you could look at Macrossan near Charters Towers, but a bit open unless you get right down close to the river. Further out there is Fletchers Ck. Creek should be still be running & this late in the year should not be too many there. Minimum facillities so depends on your needs. Bushy Parker north of T'ville is good. There is camping at most of the beachs north of T'ville but to my mind are a bit cramped. South you could try "The Funny Dunny" (Wunjuna Township) or even as far as Bowen where there are some good c'van parks I'm told. Can't really recommend any c'van parks as we free camp. Bill

You have a few recommendations on here - Macrossen, Bushy Parker at Rollingstone, Tumulla is another one near the water.

But - if you want to get even with the "noisemakers" get some birdseed, and either very late at night, or very early morning, when they are all asleep - throw birdseed on top of their vans, tents etc - the birds will drive them made scratching and screeching on top of them!!!!!

Read this somewhere else and thought it was a terrific revenge action!!
