<span class="highlight">Antenna</span> colour?

Can anyone tell the reason for having a white or black antenna? To my understanding black absorbs light making it is easier to see past a something and white would reflect light making it more difficult.

If ya talking about big white sticks or black sticks people mount bull bars for UHF radio......its all about looks, pure and simple.

people want a big white stick....the truth is these on bull bar mounts on 4wds are pointless and it is possibly the worst place to moint an antenna.

A far smaller, lighter, cheaper and electricaly identical antenna can be mounted on the roof rack at a lower cost and with improved results.

I have a black one for the phone, and a white one for the uhf, both the Colorado and the 200 series, they all sit on the middle part of the bull bar and do the job I intend them to do.

By the way I don't care what anyone thinks about that.

Personal choice.
The white ones do reflect a bit and stand out more at night in the drivers vision.
I now use the darker ones and in my view its easier on the eyes.

Antenna colours are directly related to the writing on 4x4ers tyres...... some like black writing (stealth mode) and some like white writing (look at me mode).

I have one of each. A black HF and a white UHF (GME). To be honest, colour choice wasn't even considered when I bought them. My main focus was on suitability for the type of coms I wanted and their durability on corrugated roads.

Both are mounted on my front bar (one each side), although I did mount the white one on the passenger side becaue of the above reasons.... a bit distracting.

If you get two huge white ones, you have yourself a perfect set of goal posts for a game of outback footy.... B & S Style.

Had a white one on my dark grey ute, it looked good. Now its on a dark blue troopy and I sprayed it black, looks great. Mine is a big UHF fibreglass type and was quite easy to paint.

I find my orange-coloured one receives less foul language than the original black one. LOL
