I've had my home-made awning on the Delica for two years now and it has been a great success. I now want to remake it using a quality "canvas" material (I originally used a silver 2.5x5m tarp just to see if the design works well, It has held up remarkably well!).

Can anyone recommend a company which would make up a tarp to my specs? I'm in Adelaide but I don't think that matters. I'm looking for a lightweight waterproof yet strong material (similar to that on most commercial awnings).

Cheers,

Mark

Sure can. I am in Adelaide and had a home made awning using silver/poly and replaced it with another home made awning using canvas that was made to measure by Sar Major in St Marys. They did a great job at a very reasonable price. I live near Blackwood and am very happy to have you check out mine if you like. We made a couple of interesting mods to the usual design that seem to have worked very well.

G`day Mark,
I have a similar project at the moment, however I have gone away from the idea of using canvas because of the issues of rolling it up if it has got wet during the night etc.
I have decided to use the cheaper option of the silver/black tarp material and just replace it when necessary.

Regards,

Scrubby.

Any tent or canvas maker will do the job for you. I have had several made up for caravans. Each one was made in heavy Vinyl so I would not have to worry much about getting them wet. Ask them what they have in but ends of a roll, last time I had one made I accepted what colour they had and it nearly brought the price down to half.
