Good morning all
Three years ago I purchased a VMS touring 430 which had Off road itopo maps as one of the programs of which was Memory Map installed as we were going to travel remote area's. Of the three trips we have done with that unit it failed in the first couple of days and was an able to be used on each occasion. The unit was sent back and a new one returned each time some I guess but very very aggravating to say the least as I lost any of the plotted routes each time To cut a long story down VMS have finally replaced the unit with a Touring 700HD but they don't load them with M Map any longer.
I was wanting to install M Map but I have herd somewhere that the M Map program is incompatible with the 700 does any one know if this is the case. They now load their own off road program to the units but I feel that they do not have anywhere near the same features for route plotting. I would appreciate it if any one has the same unit and has or is encountering the same issues and a solution that you have found.
Safe travels
Kelvin

You might find the 700HD has similar problems.
Mine has gone back for the second time now with supposive software problems. It is about 3 months old , the first time was up the cape where all my routs and info were deleted. Screen would freeze and turn itself off constantly. as
well as many other problems. I stated that I wanted a new one as this one is problematic but they said it was the flashcard and that they fixed the problem and updated all the software. As soon as i got it back it said I had to update maps and then froze and couldnt get past start up menu without turning itself off. Very poor costomer service as they seem to be almost contactable by phone. So long story short. 700hd might be sketchy too

Hi v8 troopy
Please oh please don't tell me that you have a 700. I encounted the same symptoms with the previous 430 where by it would not go past the start up menu and hoped that they had corrected the problems. They then put the blame on the M Map software as being the cause. And yes you ar right there is no after sales customer service. But if need be and I encounter the same problems as in the past I will have no hesitation in going to one of their displays at a trade show of which they readily push via E-Mails constantly sent and drag some one over the counter in front of the public. I bet that their attitude changes then.

Hey Broodie H3 the brand is VMS.
Kelvin, unfortunately yes it is a 700 HD touring. Many problems with this machine. It would not have satellite coverage on offroad maps but would on street maps in the middle of no where. One time it froze so badly you cuoldnt switch it on or off nothing worked had to wait a couple of hours. VERY disappointing as when it works its great but that is rearly. Hopefully they give me a new one. The flash card excuse it peeing me off! Wish I went the hema. But I thought the screen size would be handy at a glance. Hopefully you don't have any probs and I don't when
mine returns or my new one arrives.

Thanks for that v8 troopy not the great news I expected but as you said the 7 inch screen was the selling point.
And Broodie take some advise from the two of us don't go any where near the VMS brand.

Good morning boys, I have been trying to update my garmin street pilot I have brought a new map for it and down loaded the map updater and guess what they now tell me my c510 is to old to handle the new soft ware and the size of the maps so now we have to go and get a new machine just because it is several years old and out of date, so going on what you blokes are saying I won't be going anywhere near the vms brand, thanks for the heads up. Apparently I only have igb of memeory on the machine that I have and I need at least 4gb. and I thought these thing were to last forever l.o.l. I have now had an expensive exercise in futility. Talk to you both another time in the great out doors maybe. thank you, I'll stick to Garmin products any recommendations on size.
