Just wondering how most people attach their jerry can holders to rear bumpers of their caravans, considering the weight of a full jerry can. and are plastic jerry cans relatively safe in these holders..........will ever only have spare
water( not fuel) in them

I think one of the issues that has been mentioned is the "pendulum effect".
The more weight on the rear of a van can contribute to the sideways oscillations being harder to control. I guess if you get into a situation where "the tail is wagging the dog" the less weight behind the vans
wheels the better.

Will also need to check the weight rating of your rear bar.
I read somewhere in my manual that
mine is rated for about 30kgs, and my spare is already 27kg. Unles I have misread it, that's not a lot to play with back there.

Hi Kevmac
Aside from the undesirability of adding weight to the rear, the effect on sunlight on plastic containers can cause mould to form inside the container. Keep the
water containers in your vehicle.
