I have recently purchased a second hand Cub Spacematic and thought it would be a good idea to re-waterproof the canvas however since doing so we have had a problem with leaking seams. Any ideas on how to fix would be greatly appreciated!

Hi Sherwood

If you have re-waterproofed it, what have you done. If the problem continues, a very cheap and easy process is to put the unit up when it is warm. Go to your local supermarket or hardware store and buy a cheap candle.

Rub the candle along the seams and the warm weather will help melt the wax in the candle and get into the stitching where most likely the water is coming in. You only have to give the seams a quick rub and when it has worked its way in, out with the hose for a test.

When using the hose, have someone inside the camper and they will be able to see if any water is coming in and where to apply more candle.

If you have access to pure bees wax, it will do the same job.

I hope that you get it sorted out.

Cheers

Stephen

While your busy doing the canvas and letting it dry out between attempts to stop leaks, check out the chassis as some friends of ours bought a new one and had rust showing through the thinly applied galavanising paint.
Nice camper apart from that.
