I have a serious four-wheel-drive camper trailer, but I am considering upgrading to a Conqueror UEV 490. However before spending so much money on one I would like to hire a UEV 490 for a holiday to try it out. Does anyone have any idea where I might be able to hire one. I live in
Newcastle.
Thanks for any help that may come my way.
Peter

G'day Peter
I think the UEV-490 is a nice bit of kit but I would imagine the weight of it, compared to the off road trailer you already have, would be double or even more.
Just something to consider.

hi
ross m
after looking in under and over one a the
perth 4wd adventure show
i concluded that as it is all metal it would be inclined to to very hot internally
in hot weather a metal hotbox
when i suggested this to the salesman he walked away
i new from experience with salesmen in the past that i'd had hit a raw nerve and walking away is how they deal with it

I think you are right.
Salesmen don't seem to be equipped to handle the negative/analytical sides of anything, they are only programmed for Positives, ie you buy it, that is very positive.
The other issue for Peter to consider is, the price will possibly be 4 to 5 times the camper trailers new cost too.

Thanks for your thoughts. When I am fully loaded the Trak Shak weighs >1600kgs. Not sure about the cost side. My Trak Shak cost $25k in 2005. The Conqueror cost about $60k.
The heat and other reasons are why I want to try before I buy. Weight doesn't really bother me - the 200 Series V8 diesel has that much torque virtually nothing slows it down - only having enough money in your wallet to pay for fuel.

The metal is coolite type sandwich panel (like cold room panel), so heat is one issue we've not noticed.
Camping in summer no different from canvas or any other type (that I have noticed).
Tows very
well behind a single turbo V8 70 series.

I Looked at it seriously but it has a lot of show but the more you look at it the more you have to question the weight and usability in real terms. I think it would be a great weekender but not serious offroader that you have to live with. Things like the "organised and proprietary" cups and plates etc. Nice and won't smash but what a wast of space.
That was my summary anyway.
