Just trying to get some personal experiences with either of these 2 tinnies ?

I'm leaning towards the Savage however unsure about the construction of the seats which are simply pop riverted to the hull. Has anyone had issues with these cracking, pulling through the hull, coming apart etc.

The tinny will be loaded onto a Custom Boat Loader so hence the weight restriction.

The Savage dealer is offering me a Yamaha 20HP and the Sea Jay is offering me a Mercury 15HP and with 3 older kids the extra power won't go astray.

Regards
Jeff

Jeff

Have you looked at these?. I looked around a lot and chose the Varmint as fully welded, good freeboard and very well made....weight is 95 kg.

It sits on a Custom Boat Loader (in fact the dingy is at their yard {Customs} right now having some rails and steps being put on)
A mate has the identical boat on a Custom Boat Loader as well. We are both very happy with the combination

Hi Jeff,
I have had a snipe for over 20 years and it has been run hard into stumps, rocks etc and been through some very rough water, all without any structural effect. Great boat but a little heavy. I would go for the yamaha over the Merc anytime.

I like the look of the Stessl Edgetracker too. Important to check the number of passengers the boat can legally carry. Some 12ft boats can only take 3.

We have a 3.5 Nomad and the seats are not pop riveted in, far better I reckon. The nomad a has a flatter bottom (punt like) but V bow, the flater bottom makes it a lot better to fit things in and easier to walk on. I have a casting deck in the front with a lift up lid on the storage hatch.

With a 15hp Yamaha it gets along really well. We use a custom boat loader as well.

Hi we have 3.7 stacer seasprite my wife recons its abit heavy to load on the top of the truck (no boat loader here) not sure about the weight ,its powered by a 18hp tohatsu gets along fine and a simple engine that wont let you down but if you have 3 kids go the larger boat with a 20 or 25hp you wont regret it
