Hi, have an OZ trip planned mid 2013. Saving hard to do a helicopter flight over the Bungle Bungles--hear it's awesome. Obviously quite expensive!! Unsure whether to book or just rock up and hope there is a quiet day and I may get a discount for the family--2 adults/2kiddies. Anyone got any suggestions??

Cheers, Jason.

I wouldn't bank on getting a discount.

Taking a heli flight over the Bungle Bungles would we awesome and worth every cent.

If you're going up to Mithchell Falls a 6 minute flight to the falls and a walk back to the top is worth the $100 each.

We were there in June last year and just rocked up and only had to wait about 20 minutes. It is a must do when in the Bungle Bungles. There was a choice of 3 flight durations, 18 minutes, 30 and 48. We went on the 30 minute one, I think it was $299 each. Yep, expensive, but worth every cent! Kevin

Jason, there are a couple of option s for flights and one is a departure from Turkey Creek rather than the Purnululu airstrip. This may mean a difference in price. I'd actually ring the Helicopter mob and seek advice from them especially if you know what month/week you'll be there. You can pick up a "standby fare" at a discount but it's usually only one or two seats available to fill an exisiting flight and chances are scarce during the peak seasons.

Cheers Mick

Hi Jason

Make sure you take the ground walks to. Amazing walking into the "Cathedral" gorge cavern, especially if some is singing. I never got to take the helicopter ride as we hadn't pre booked and arrived just behind two or three tour coaches who then booked the rides for the rest of the day. I wasn't so fussed or i could have booked for the next morning. My husband had flown over a few years earlier. We did take the "taxi" chopper home from Mitchell Falls.

Hi Jason,
Could I recommend a trip to the Horizontal falls as well, out of Derby, & overnight if you can. The Sea plane landing is something & the falls themselves are amazing. Enjoy your trip

I went on a Bungle Bungles joy flight and wasn't to thrilled about it. I was the only passenger. I think walking into the gorges is more of a thrill.
But the Kimberley coast flight from Mitchell Falls is worth the money

I would recommend the helicopter flight and also doing the walking. Two very different experiences and both highly recommended.

As previously stated, if you can do the Mitchell Falls flight. When we went up there the GBR was in very good condition but the road to Kalumbru was very bad and the road to Mitchell Falls was mainly only if you wanted to destroy your vehicle.

The King Edward River campsite was a fantastic spot if you do drive.
